The Petition

Equality State Taxpayers Association Mission Statement:
To change Wyoming’s residential property taxation method to an acquisition based residential property taxation system. This will be accomplished through a bill to do so in the next Wyoming Legislative session.

The acquisition based residential property tax would:
       Be well defined
       Easily understood
       Not based on guesswork
       Certain
       Non-arbitrary

Acquisition based residential property tax assessments will be:
       Residential acquisitions
              Assessments based upon the price of the residence at the time of purchase.
       Existing residences
              The current residential property tax will be “frozen.”
       Improvements to residences
              Residential property tax will be assessed on actual cost of improvements.

Accomplishing our mission:
The Equality State Taxpayers Association will advocate for this change through a bill in the next Wyoming Legislative session.

We the undersigned Wyoming residents agree with the mission of the Equality State Taxpayers Association. We fully support their efforts and will hold our State Legislature accountable in accomplishing the legislation to do away with the current unacceptable and financially devastating ad valorem method of residential tax assessments.
